Northern California Science Writers Association

Open Board Meeting

  • Tuesday, April 19, 2016
  • 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
  • San Francisco Public Library, Main Branch

The NCSWA board is happy to announce that we’re holding the organization’s first-ever open board meeting! Please join us: your input is critical to keep our organization relevant and useful to members.

Date: Tuesday, April 19

Time: 6:00–7:30 p.m.

Location: San Francisco Public Library, Main Branch

100 Larkin St. (at Grove, steps away from Civic Center BART station)

Latino/Hispanic Community Meeting Room, lower level of the library

(Enter at 30 Grove Street and proceed down stairs to the lower level.)

Take advantage of this opportunity to let us know:

  • What skills you’d like to gain from future workshops
  • What speakers or topics you’d like to see at quarterly dinners
  • What types of outings interest you, from hikes and trivia nights to museum visits and happy hour meet-ups.

Your input will help us plan events that address your interests, and keep NCSWA a vital and thriving organization. And if you’re interested in serving on the board or volunteering to help with NCSWA events, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re unable to attend this meeting, don’t despair. Email the board at NorthernCalifScienceWriters@gmail.com to share your ideas or concerns. We’ll read any comments we receive aloud at the meeting for discussion. You’re also always welcome to email the board at any time with comments and questions.

Nor is this April’s meeting your last chance to influence NCSWA’s direction. If an open board meeting proves popular, it will become an annual event.

In addition to hearing member concerns, the board will be discussing topics such as future dinner speakers, ideas for future events and workshops, and planning for the World Conference of Science Journalists meeting to be held in the Bay Area in October 2017.

If you have questions or want more information, please contact NCSWA President Bob Sanders at rlsanders@berkeley.edu. Please note that this is not a library-sponsored program, and library staff won’t have information about it.

Looking forward to meeting you and hearing your input on April 19!
